The Sainte-Croix and Saint-Georges churches, vestiges of the former Royal Abbey in Chelles, were classified historical monuments in 1984. They were restored and refurbished by the designer Martin Szekely and the architect Marc Barani as part of a public commission begun in 2008. Since then, the art centre programs four exhibitions per year which address questions of territory, for which artists are invited to create specific works. At the same time, the centre carries out public activities in forms that are constantly being updated.
