G2 / Marie Voignier
For Voignier, the Musée éclaté is an opportunity to explore the conditions under which cultural identity emerges and to examine the place of art in this symbolic construction. She thus takes up Impressionism as an agent contributing to the definition of the cultural identity of the Normandy region and suggests a parallel with the issues around landscape painting in North Korea. Visits to the studios of painters who represent ‘official’ North Korean painting are thus the manifestation of a cultural identity and local politics. Through comparisons at times anecdotal and at others formal, intuitive or empirical, but always subjective, Marie Voignier explores the origins of cultural forms.
